Broken Heart

A year ago today my heart broke forever.

You took a piece of me,
a piece of all of us,
with you.

Nothing time will ever heal
Instead, a lesson of how it will be from now on

They say to remember the good times
I’ll tell you what I do remember,
I remember how you used to say…..

“This is fuckin bullshit!”

FullSizeRender-4

You were our steel magnolia.
So strong.
Courageous.

But every beautiful flower eventually dies.

We will fight ’til the end, like you showed us how.
And as we do,
we will continue to miss you each and every day.

Love Buzz

Original artwork - ink on paper by Diane Kitanoski - King and Queen of Hearts

“Would you believe me when I tell you, you are the Queen of my heart?” *

Love is like a game of cards.

Snap to be precise.

When two cards match you snap your hand down on the cards to take the winnings.

So when you have enough in common with someone in real life, do you snap them up?

Are they your perfect match or does it just look that way from the outside?

You gotta play in order to have a chance to meet your Prince……King!

(as Solitaire is only a game for one.)

But be sure to shuffle the cards well, for you might end up with the Joker.

How to do that

How does one become a world renowned fashion designer, everyone knows by name?

Jean Paul Gaultier shows us “Aow Tou Dou Zat!”

image image

Recently having exhibited at Melbourne’s National Gallery of Victoria.  Jean Paul Gaultier brought us “From the sidewalk to the catwalk.”  Filled with fashion, photography, film and art, quotes from Madonna to Andy Warhol, and talking mannequins, it was a theatrical event indeed.  Even JPG’s teddy bear from his childhood made the long trip over from Paris.

               image  image

Another childhood inspiration was his grandmother that would tell him inspiring tales to which he said, “That was all food for my imagination.”

           image  image

A young boy with such an imagination could be thought of as somewhat girly.  A life changing moment occurred when one day at school, he drew a topless showgirl from a program he’d watched on a Folies Bergere Revue.  He had gotten in trouble from his teacher by doing so, but it was a blessing in disguise. “I was no longer the sissy who didn’t play soccer.”

image

Jean Paul Gaultier brought us sailor stripes, corset style dresses and the cone bra, pushing boundaries in fashion when it came to traditional roles of men and women, using model of all shapes & sizes, tattooed and pierced, men’s skirts and bondage inspired fashion.  We look forward to seeing what this unconventional designer brings us next!

image

“I think the way people dress today is a form of artistic expression…….Art lies in the way the whole outfit is put together.  Take Jean Paul Gaultier.  What he does is really art.” – Andy Warhol, 1984

image

Merci beacoup Monsieur Gaultier for bringing your world to ours, we bid you Bon-Voyage for now and wish you Bonne Chance with the rest of your tour.

Very Superstitious

Friday the 13th is very superstitious.

image

A long, long time ago my Mum went into labour with her first baby. Her doctor induced her labour as he didn’t want her baby to be born on Friday 13th.

So I was born on Thursday the 12th.

So what is the big deal with superstition? Am I a better person because I wasn’t cursed by being born on this day of supposed bad luck? My friend calls herself a freak; maybe her birth on Halloween really did play a part. And is someone born on Valentine’s Day more loving than the rest of us?

Some of us believe in superstitions and others don’t.   Don’t step on the crack cause you’ll break your Mum’s back. Seven years bad luck when you break a mirror or you open an umbrella indoors. Where did these even come from?

Do you believe it? Is it true? What superstitions do you have?

Wishing everyone the best of luck……..touch wood!

Back in time

A new year is upon us. We’re all a little older, and hopefully, all a little wiser.  The future may be exciting, but gee there’s nothing like the good old days.

photographic image by Diane Kitanoski of a Cassette Necklace

Remember the days….

The days of cassettes? You know you’re old if you remember trying to rewind a cassette by using a pencil. The crackle of the needle when playing an old record. Using the rotary dial on the telephone to ring someone at home. Yep you heard me, calling the landline. And remembering someone’s phone number off by heart. Getting a handwritten letter in the mail. (Licking the envelope, you can’t get more personal than that) Getting off your butt to change the tv channel (our asses were much smaller then).  Film cameras.  Shooting a role of film.  Not being able to wait til that hour was over when your photos had finished getting developed at the chemist.

We have all made New Years resolutions and hope for a bigger and brighter future. But we all have fond memories from the past that we’ll always cherish.

I hope your 2015 is full of shooting stars & adventure.

This is Roshambo.

(Back in time or back to the future?  Either way, I gotta get myself a delorean!)

Bringing Sexy Back

A25 Pizzeria is bringing sexy back………pizza style!

42

Owner, Remo Nicolini, isn’t new to the Melbourne food scene.  Having success already with  Non Solo Pasta , he likes to keep it in the family with brother Tony who also runs a pizzeria (or two) known as  D.O.C.

39 15 21

The name and the menu were both inspired by the A25 Motorway which travels from Rome to the beautiful city of  Pescara.  The menu, ranging from the tempting truffle pizza, or, my favourite, The Pink Lady which comes with raspberries, these are flavours your tastebuds have never dreamed of.  Never judge a pizza by it’s topping……there’s a reason there’s a dusting of licorice on the L.S.D pizza.  These guys are crazy enough to try it, are you? You’re welcome!

13 9 20

There are still your traditional flavoured pizza pies, but these guys are your local Willy Wonka when it comes to mouth watering combinations.

     32 16 19

With a staff of authentic Italian’s, the cheese on the sexy pizza melts without an oven.  All senses are aroused, look, taste and touch.  So there’s no point reading about the food, go down and try it yourself.  Everything tastes as good as the waiters look.

   11 30

The cheeky-ness continues in the “bagno” where you can write your phone number on the toilet wall (the good old fashioned way) and Italy’s ex- President Silvio Berlusconi will give you a call. (only for those that are young and cute!)

                                          33     35

Since it’s successful opening night this Kasbah pizzeria has not stopped rocking!

A-ri ti ti ti

The great Pablo Picasso was quoted once, saying,
“All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once [she] grows up”
I think I know the answer.

Introducing Arite Kannavos, whose signature style of vivid colour, metallic highlights and faint washes, capture the viewers attention, taking them back to a time of childhood innocence and purity.

This is what a dream would look like in paint, poking at your subconscious, evoking emotions that make you smile for no reason.
Her paintings are a reflection of the beauty that is this creative mind.

Not only does she inject art into our world, she also nurtures the creative soul in her friends…. including me!
Arite is a character, and much like her artwork, she is irresistible.

Call me

“Call me……”

      “Where you going?”

              “Where you been?”

                         “Are we still friends?”

Diane Kitanoski Photography of 1950's girl talking on phone

Chinese whispers is what it’s called, gossip guaranteed to be a completely different story by the time it gets to the end of the line.  Words dileberately altered? Or the unreliability of human recollection after being altered by alcohol when saying it?  They say you are “no-one” until you’re talked about, but maybe it’s the nobody’s doing all the talking.  It’s ok……don’t take it personally.  It’s always a good story in the end.

“It’s no secret, it’s just not your business.”
