Earth Angel

There aren’t only angels in heaven.  We have earth angel‘s too.

Coming from a world of film photography, I wasn’t too keen to move into the digital world.  But what if you had a photo that moves?  You can thank photographers Kevin Burg & Jamie Beck who coined the term  “cinemagraph” which is a photograph that has certain elements in the picture that move, using an animated gif format.  And I can thank Ms Yvette Harvey who invited me to collaborate with Ellipsis Productions and their Exhibition: Loss, Lust & Longing to which I was first introduced to cinemagraph‘s.  Here’s a preview of one of my pieces from our past show at the Sydney Fringe Festival @ The Gaffa Creative Precinct.

Dream Brother

Many of us lose loved one’s and we also lose people we never personally knew yet, loved from afar.  One of these people, for me, was the great, Jeff Buckley.  I was fortunate enough to photograph him back in 1996 when he played at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne.  After the show I shook his hand and told him what a moving performance he gave.  Wanting a memento from the concert, I asked him for his shirt to which he said with a laugh, “Hell no.”

Jeff

A year later, during a spontaneous evening swim, singing Led Zeppelins “Whole lotta love,” a fully clothed Jeff was caught in the wake of a passing tugboat.  His death was reported as an accidental drowning.  One of the many, talented and loved, people who’s life here on earth was cut short and is now in heaven.

“Dream brother” if you “meet the one I love” please tell her I miss her.

An inspiration is what you are to me

In honour of my Mother

Mine-watermark-right

This blog is dedicated to a beautiful woman by the name of Vera who I call Mum.

A strong and courageous woman who lost her 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer in March of this year.

Had she lived to see the day, today she would have celebrated her 60th Birthday

You rock my world.  You are my inspiration.  You are forever in my heart.

This is my present to you Mum,

Happy Birthday
